Yesterday I got off work early do to the fact that I went in early for morning maintenance. And since it was such a nice day outside I figured I’d try to get some yard work done. I don’t really have much of a yard to work with since its all weeds and sand with very little grass. I don’t remember the last time that the whole yard was raked so I picked up my rake and began….. shortly after starting I noticed how my dead grass and leaves there really was and how much better it looked after raking. i began raking at about 1:30 -2Pm and raked until about 4Pm. In that time we (sarah came out to help out some) got most of the yard done. MAN WAS I SORE…… Holy crap this kid needs to work out more or something…. my arms felt like rubber, my back was aching, and my feet were numb. Work wasn’t done yet. We spent another hour picking up the piles of grass/leaves that we made. I guess I have another day of fun yard work to look forward too this weekend when I finish up the rest of the yard… Fun Fun

Ok Ok Chris, I’ll post! I know it’s been awhile since I last posted and yeah some may say I’m slacking but really I’ve been busy. Last week\weekend I spent most of my time while not at work, working on getting the house ready for our kid that’s on the way. I cleaned out the back spare bed room. Bought and assembled a crib. Painted the room a nice green color (had to stay in the greens because we don’t know what we are having yet). Then I rented a Rug Doctor and shampooed all of our carpeting. The house is much cleaner looking and the baby room looks lots better. With only 62 days (or two months 2 days) left before the expected due date I figured I needed to get some of this done sooner than later not only for the baby but also for my health….. I think Sarah might have kicked my a$$ if i didn’t stop procrastinating and got the crap done.

So I went into work this morning at 3AM to do some maintenance on our exchange environment and soon after arriving I found that our blackberry service seem to have stopped working. I didn’t really mind to much because it actually gave me a chance to sleep without the constant interruptions caused by email pages throughout the night. After doing some research I found that the our Blackberry server stopped working at about 7:20PM. Now knowing that it wasn’t my exchange maintenance that caused any of the issues I began to dig….. and dig…… and dig…. Until my head was black blue and bloody from beating my head up against what was the largest concrete wall I could find. Then I decided that the only thing left beside calling there tech support would be to reinstall BES server… I vocally announced it to my co-workers that that’s what my plan was…. No more than 2 seconds later Chris, one of my co-workers, yelled to stop if I haven’t already started. He found in one of his RSS feeds that there was possibly a North American Wide BlackBerry outage. So after discovering this piece of information my blackberry started to work again…… YEAH!!!!!!! Kind of bitter sweet I guess…. On one hand I know that it was nothing wrong in our environment and its RIMs fault in its entirety, but on the other hand I wasted a couple of hours trying to figure the issue out. By now I see that everyone has information on it but I wonder why Blackberry support didn’t put this information up on their site. I spent a lot of time on their support site and if I had seen something up on there I wouldn’t have wasted all that time….. DAM YOU CRACKBERRY!!!!

I was playing around with local.live.com today a bit and checked out what my house looks like. I was really impressed with how far they have come with their mapping verses a couple of months ago. For my area local.live.com has google earth beat. With the birds eye view you can see in great detail my land. The picture is a bit outdated (I still had my bonnie and sarah still had her stang) and I’m curious how often they update them.

I think we either have one of the stupidest cats or one of the smartest cats. Our gray cat, Shasta, likes to be naughty to get attention. But lately he has gotten worse. He will either go into our bedroom or into the bathroom and push on the door until it shuts. Once he does this he proceeds to meow continuously until you go and let him out. As soon as he is out he runs around and meows like he was all scared and worried about being locked in there. Well about two minutes after this whole show, he goes back into the room and tries again. He is a nut, and I think I am worse because I keep falling for it every time and I go and let him back out because I feel bad. I think this is a game he plays to make me go a little crazy or something!!!

A interesting blog from Jeff Jones -
February 28th marked 90 days that Windows Vista had been available to business customers. December brought the first public disclosure of a vulnerability and February brought the first Security Bulletin affecting Windows Vista. Has it been a good or a bad 90 days for security vulnerabilities?
I have analyzed the vulnerability disclosures and fixes for Windows Vista and examined the results in the context of its predecessor, Windows XP, along with several other modern workstation operating systems including Red Hat, Ubuntu, Novell and Apple products to try and answer that question.
For the full details, or to print the report, you can download the report.
For those that only want the executive summary, here is a key chart that shows the publicly disclosed vulnerabilities during the first 90 days of availability, broken down by vulns fixed and vulns unfixed. Many have commented on previous studies that you can’t get a full picture by just looking at issues fixed, so I worked to include disclosed, but unfixed issues to try and present a more comprehensive view .

The results of the analysis show that Windows Vista has an improved security vulnerability profile over its predecessor and a significantly better profile relative to comparable modern competitive operating systems

So this morning i spent about 30 min or so playing around with Macromedia Flash Professional 8. In that 30 min I created a basic image flash. Its kinda cool and I’m looking forward in playing more with the software to see what I can create. This particular flash file I created for the sponsers section on The Motorcycle Ride For The Mind website……

So i decided that i was going to boycott subway today because they really pissed me off. I went there for lunch today with my mom and i ordered my usually veggie sub. Well today they informed me that the veggie sub no longer comes with cheese as does EVERY other sub on their menu, and that if i still wanted cheese it would be an additional $.30. Come on now…..how ridiculous!!!! Just the veggie sub doesn’t get cheese, this seems a little like discrimination for my poor veggies. And i know the $.30 wont break the bank (although it could) its the point of it! So i e-mailed them a nasty comment about what they could do with their new policies and vowed not to go there again until they change it. I guess i better get used to Quiznos!!!!!

This last weekend I spent much of my time recreating the Ride for the Mind website. MotorCycle Ride for the Mind was Organized and created by my family and friends to raise money for the aid and research of Alzheimer’s disease. I was asked to take over the website awhile back here and when the domain was transferred to my name the content was removed. After trying to contact the old site owner seeing if i could get a copy of the sites content and not hearing any response, i figured i’d better start recreating/redesigning the site. Most of the day Saturday was spent creating multiple templates (Three to be exact) and then asking for peoples opinions on which template looked the best. Once i had the template that others and myself liked i started to put some content on the site. I purchased a years worth of hosting and published what i had. The site is now up and working although there isn’t much content on the site yet. I have sent off the info to the Organizers asking for content that they want me to place up on the site and will wait to hear back.
Any ways check it out….. There isn’t much content on the site yet except for ride photos from 2006 along with a couple of videos……
